Upset That I Can’t Say Hello
When I first started Tumblr, I had no followers and I enjoyed having the ability of writing back to you after a follow, comment, or “liking” a post. It was grassroots, and it was awesome.
However, in the past 2 months my dashboard notifications have been crazy. In fact, yesterday I blogged 4 times, 1 of which got 8,000 notes in 4 hours. Compound that with the other notes, and my dashboard has become useless because I can’t scroll through it, or select which post’s notes I want to follow.
I’m flattered, but overwhelmed. So feel free to message or email me - I answer almost all of them. I guess ForOrchestra is growing up, or maybe it’s just a flash in the pan?
Either way, although I probably won’t see your “notes” anymore, I’ll still try and skim through what I can because this is a tight community, and it’s fun to chat with you all. Maybe this calls for more live streaming so we can all hang out?!
I’m trying my best to keep up!
Would You Spend 6 Hours To Gain 1 Fan?
Back in May, I spent 6 hours making the Dr. Who Tardis as sheet music. Those around me don’t understand why I made that instead of working on new music. I wasn’t selling it, and I only gained 1 new fan from it.
The answer is because it matters to my community. It was a thankyou, and it was also fun to make. Would you spend 6 hours to make someone happy? What if it was only for 1 person?
I simply make these things each week as a thankyou to those who support me. In the old days bands had to set up a costly tour, travel 4 hours to the nearest city, play a show, and be lucky to sell a CD afterwards. After gas, time, car repairs, broken cables, lodging, food, and more they’d be lucky to break even on their investment.
When people call me crazy it’s because they have no clue. They don’t want to spend 6 hours to gain a fan. They don’t want to answer every email, tweet, Facebook message, or Tumblr ask.
I come across people who want instant results. It’s the same breed that will watch Youtube videos on tips for “shortcuts on how to play piano”. It’s a trap - don’t fall for it. There are no shortcuts.
You have spend 6 hours per person. You want 1,000 true fans? Then you have to give them 6,000 true hours.
Thanks To The Code Lyoko Fandom!
First of all, I want to give a shout out to Zack the Great because it was his suggestion, and he even got a ton of Code Lyoko-ers to demand that I arrange it - OR ELSE!
Anyway, I really do appreciate the support, and it was a fun song to arrange for you this week. The Subdigitals and Moonscoop really have a special community, and I hear there’s a Season 5 of Code Lyoko coming out, so I’m glad to have brought some of that nostalgia and excitement to it.
The orchestra is my passion - it’s literally the only thing I think about all day - and it means a lot to me that people are beginning to love it again. Thanks again, your support means the world to me, and I can’t keep my excitement for these next pieces I’m working on for you!
We have a lot of fun here, and I hope you’re prepared for more awesomeness because you guys rock.
When Someone Reblogs My Post
Apologies About MLP “Answers”
I specifically did not want questions enabled for my MLP audio post today. But somehow, some way, tumblr seems to have magically added them in there - how’d that happen? There’s not even a question mark within the post. And I can’t turn them off.
I spent 70 hours arranging that piece, and wanted everything to be perfect. Oh well, “Be Calm And Orchestrate!”. I just want to say thanks everyone! More to come! Bro-hoof!
