Google’s simple Superbowl XLIV Ad

Silence creates tension. Last night while I watched the Superbowl XLIV commercials I noticed explosions, jokes, multi million dollar budgets, celebrities, and more. But it always seems the most powerful things are the most simple:

Google’s commercial left me speechless. It’s a very simple commercial, which assisted in it’s lasting impression. Simple always seems powerful and more effective – I’m even writing this on an Apple computer, which is a company that lives by “If it doesn’t NEED to be there, then take it out.”

There’s something beautiful about leaving things to the imagination – as this commercial only shows the search bar – yet a beautiful story was written before our eyes. And we all have different interpretations of the two involved, the house, the baby, and the events.

The same goes for music, books, businesses, and movies. People get so geared up on “Go big or go home“, that we forget what it really means. It means attitude. It means thinking out of the box. And a lot of times when done correctly, the artist’s conception is incredibly powerful.

Like music, the power of things is in their silence and simplicity.
