What Matters
When I first started out in internet marketing I used to think that numbers mattered. It’s normal and part of human nature to mistake the forest for the trees. To judge aesthetics over function. To go for the ‘wow factor’ rather than gradually building things up naturally.
Like a piece of music though, things are much better when they’re real, organic, and expressive. I’ve been thinking today about how the effectiveness in music isn’t in the notes that are played, but rather the silence between those notes.
When done effectively, more can be said in 3 notes than 300. When done passionately and authentically, more can be said in 3 words than 300.
It’s quality versus quantity. It’s about connecting with people like you. Its not about the large numbers, its about the organic relationships that are made. That’s what matters. It’s about making music, because music brings people together.
The orchestra is what’s possible when we come together. It’s expressive, collaborative, and organic – much like the music it performs. It’s allowing me to connect with you all – and that’s all that matters to me. Connection. Let’s bring back the orchestra… together.
